Sequest is simple by design.
Many durable carbon removal pathways depend on expensive equipment, high energy use, complex processing, or long deployment timelines. Sequest uses a preservation mechanism that already works in nature then engineers it for measurement, protection, and scale.
By storing biomass directly, rather than processing it into a separate product, the system retains carbon efficiently while minimizing process-related losses.
The system can be built with ordinary industrial capabilities, and we use very little energy. This makes the solution fast to deploy, less capital-intensive, and designed for fast delivery.

Sequest is developing its project under the Puro.earth Terrestrial Storage of Biomass methodology. Our Horizon Facility (our first planned commercial deployment in Saudi Arabia) has passed a preliminary assessment, and our storage design, monitoring plan, and carbon accounting are aligned with the requirements of the methodology.
-
We use agricultural residues: prunings and other low-value lignocellulosic by-products that would otherwise be burned or left to decay.
Feedstocks are screened for eligibility, chain of custody, quality and suitability, and competing uses. We do not source biomass that already has a higher-value use and instead turn waste into durable carbon storage.
-
The primary benefit is durable carbon removal. In addition, Sequest reduces open-field burning - a common disposal method that creates air pollution and health risks. Beyond that, the model creates new income streams for farmers, processors, and biomass aggregators and generates local employment at storage sites.
-
Sequest is designed to be low-impact. We select hyper-arid sites with minimal vegetation, no soil organic carbon, no plant cover to disturb, and away from ecologically sensitive zones.
The storage system is above ground, limiting excavation and subsurface disturbance. Site selection, permitting, monitoring, and safeguards are built into the operating model with sensitive areas excluded.
